Hungarian Meatball Pizza

A shout out loud to all the pizza lovers out there!

We are normally accustomed to eating pizzas at big chains like Dominos and Pizza Hut but more often than not, we are not satisfied with the experience. Except for a few special and expensive pizzas, the normal ones do not have adequate toppings and even the bread is dry in most cases.

Rising to such occasions, pizza joints like California Pizza Kitchen provide unique offerings which stick to your palate. That’s not all: the quality of cheese, quantity of toppings and the concepts make sure that their customers have an unparalleled pizza experience.

In the same line, we have recently been to California Pizza Kitchen in Indiranagar, Bangalore for trying out their new concept of Pizza Trails. They are currently showcasing pizzas from 8 different countries like Hungary, Japan, US, India, Italy etc. and these beauties are hand crafted by their chefs. Not only the pizzas but they have certain mocktails and cocktails too!

This was the first time we visited their Indiranagar outlet and it was quite spacious. They have 2 floors of seating arrangements and have proper lighting. Now coming down to what they have in store:

They have exactly 8 different pizzas from different parts of the world. Some were decent, some could have been better and some were outright exceptional.

The pizzas were: Pizza Rustica, Teriyaki Pizza, Indian Delight, Fiesta Pizza, Shawarma Pizza, Hungarian Meat Ball Pizza, Fish and Chips Pizza and the Ultimate Feast Pizza.

The last 4 pizzas were honestly brilliant and belong to the must try category!

We have made a short video for easy interpretation and visuals. Please do check out our youtube channel in the process as well. (Don’t forget to like, subscribe and comment too)

The Hungarian meatball pizza was the best of the lot. It tasted different with chunks of cooked and juicy chicken throughout. It had parmesan cheese and the combination was excellent. Apart from these the normal roasted peppers/mushrooms etc. were present in these pizza varieties.

Another noticeable factor about the pizzas served here is the crust. It is thin, soft and has a light crunch to it—perfection!

If you are a meat lover then do not forget to try the US ultimate feast pizza which has loads of meat and cheese. It had sausages, pork pepperoni and mushrooms in abundance and you are guaranteed to find something in each bite.

The fish and chips pizza from the UK was different and tasted decent. There was a predominance of mustard in this which did not suit our palate but it is definitely a must try as it is unique and the fried chunks of fish are perfect. This pizza is served with fries on top/alongside.

The shawarma pizza was just like having a chicken shawarma. The flavours were brilliantly executed.
The Indian delight pizza was a thick crusted pizza with cheese, onions, paneer and an Indian gravy touch similar to the butter paneer. It tasted very different from what we normally have.

If you love to take your taste buds on an adventure: please do try the Japanese Teriyaki pizza. There was a predominance of soya with cherry tomatoes, but the combination tasted great with the cheese.
The rest were not so impressive and pretty ordinary.

Grapefruit Fresca and Watermelon Frostyyou

So that’s all from our side regarding the Pizza trails experience. We tried a couple of mocktails as well and the ones worth trying are the Grapefruit Fresca and the Peach Julep. The others were not impressive.

These special pizzas are available till the 15th of October, so not much time left ;)

If you guys visit, do try out the ones we mentioned and let us know how you feel!

We’ll be back soon with another one of our adventures.

Till then—do check out our video and bon apetit!

The Mangalorean Food Festival | Jamavar- The Leela Palace | Bangalore

Luxury dining is something which we would like to call an acquired taste. In the recent past, we have had our share of luxury and fine dining and at first it did not seem so special. However, with repeated encounters one can realize the true beauty of the experience. Although luxury comes at a price, it is something to indulge in because we do need to pamper ourselves after the hard work we do!

On the same page, we recently visited The Leela Palace, Bangalore situated in Old Airport road for their Mangalore Food Festival and the property is majestic. It is not surprising if someone is awestruck by the grandeur of the interiors and especially in and around their Indian specialty restaurant, Jamavar. This festival is running at Jamavar from the 12th of September to the 21st.

They have miniature rocky waterfalls with greenery everywhere. Jamavar has indoor as well as outdoor seating. The indoors give you a regal feeling whereas the outdoors are breezy with picturesque surroundings.

Now coming down to the food:

The Flechazo Experience | Marathahalli | Bangalore

Prawn cocktail shot

It was quite a long time ago that I (Rudra) was fascinated with the concept of desserts, ice creams and the sort made with liquid nitrogen. Since liquid nitrogen is not readily available and needs to be handled with caution, it requires a certain degree of workmanship which is expensive and thus, most restaurants opt out!

We visited a restaurant very recently and we were amazed to discover that it took the risk and it sure paid off! The restaurant we are talking about is Flechazo and it newly set its roots in Bangalore. It is located in Doddenakundi, Bangalore and it is hard to miss for travelling people.

This restaurant specializes in a few offerings which make it quite unique and not only that, but their pricing is also affordable. To make it more family friendly, the place is alcohol free!

Now coming down to the food and the specialties which we came across:

The August Moon Festival | Memories of China | Vivanta by Taj-M.G Road | Bangalore

Have you guys ever heard of something called the August Moon Festival?

Whatever your answer is, do read on as we got to know about it recently and celebrated this auspicious event at none other than Memories of China, Vivanta by Taj—M.G Road, Bangalore. This festival is regarded as the second grandest festival in China and is also known as the mid-autumn festival.

It is called the August Moon Festival because at this time of the year the moon is at its brightest and roundest. The festival is associated with family engagement, traditional Chinese food and moon cakes.

They have a special menu for this festival and it kicked off from the 1st of September. The menu has a great balance between Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian items but does not have any desserts. So, if you have a dessert craving then the main menu will come to your rescue.

We tried almost the entire menu, but we will be talking about the highlights only. As the preparations are Authentic Chinese, there are chances that some might not be palate friendly.

Stir fried water chestnut, lotus stem and potatoes in chef special sauce

Steamed eggplant in spicy peanut sauce

cauliflower in a creamy sauce with preserved chilli

We normally try non veg more, but this time we will be talking about veg too!
